ARTEMIS LADIES 5MM OPEN CELL SUIT

Artemis 2mm Ladies Wetsuit

It has become evident over the last 60 days that the Ocean Hunter Artemis Ladies 5mm suit has experiencing a greater than acceptable return rate due to failure and splitting (pulling apart) of the glued internal seams.

Through an in-depth investigation of the manufacturing process, it has been identified that some Artemis 5mm seams edges were not allowed sufficient time to dry before assembly and were also subject to lower-than-normal temperatures during the shortened drying process, both factors that are the direct cause of the issue. The issue does not appear to be across all stock of 5mm suits supplied to market.

Note: This Quality Alert is ONLY relevant to the Ocean Hunter Artemis 5mm. The Ocean Hunter Artemis 3.5mm and 2mm models ARE NOT affected and are excluded from all aspects of the Quality Alert.

IDENTIFYING THE ISSUE

Some customers have experienced splitting of the seams (as shown below), in most cases on the first use or soon thereafter in the life of the product. Splitting has ranged from minimal to severe. It can be assumed a minimal split will develop and become more severe if continual use occurs and that the suit is therefore subject to the Quality Alert.

COURSE OF ACTION

NOTE: This IS NOT and mandatory recall and there is NO safety risk for users of the product. Many consumers have been diving their suits without issue and have no need to return for replacement.

  1. It is the intention of AUP, for those experiencing this issue, to have the suit replaced at no charge with a brand new issue free model.
  2. Given there is no safety concern with the potential issue, it is AUP’s recommendation that users continue to dive their suits (with basic repair made in-store, if required) until replacement stock becomes available.

Note: This is a recommendation only and if you choose to stop using and return the suit to your place of purchase, both retailer and AUP will honor refund.

REPLACEMENT STOCK AVAILABILITY

In order to eliminate any future impact of the potential issue in the market, all AUP stock holding of Artemis 5mm has been quarantined and made unavailable for purchase, or for use as Warranty replacement.

Whilst every effort has been made to extradite replacement stock of 5mm Artemis to support the Quality Alert, on-going supply chain challenges mean a delay in time before full marketplace stock replacement can take place.

An ETA on full replacement stock being readily available if you are experiencing the said issue is, end of May / early June 2022.
